My story

Professor and bone and joint surgeon for children and young people. Co-founded an AI unicorn. My day job feeds all my other jobs.

I'm a Professor and Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. My clinical expertise is in paediatric and young adult conditions of the lower limb, hip, knee, foot and ankle, including congenital and developmental problems, sports injuries and trauma.

I've been involved in start-ups, scale-ups and growth ventures for over 20 years, having built, run, sold and advised companies in AI, healthtech, medtech and education. A beacon example: as co-founder of Viz.ai, we built the first ever FDA-approved health imaging AI algorithm, and now have multiple algorithms deployed in over 2,000 hospitals globally, having served more than 4 million patients.

Beyond the operating theatre and the venture world, I've authored 19 books, published over 150 peer-reviewed papers, and hold Professorships and Readerships around the world. Every job is research for every other job.
